This fun and energetic class will expose your child not only to world renowned Latin dance styles such as Salsa, Zouk and Samba, they will also learn to appreciate the different styles of music and culture that comes with the dances. These classes will involve a combination of solo and partnered dance where applicable, however the focus will be on the solo aspects to provide a foundation for when they can join our specifically partnered classes.

- DANCE VARIETY (NEW CLASS 2018) Taking Interest

In this class students will explore a variety of dance styles to improve wellbeing, co-ordination, flexibility and technique in a fun, relaxed environment.

We will begin with foundations in classical BALLET to develop basic alignment and technique. This is the basis of many other styles of dance. From here students will delve into jazz, contemporary and lyrical through out the term.

JAZZ - A technical style based on ballet, jazz is sharp and energetic using kicks, turns and leaps. Danced to popular music, students use basic technique and modern movement seen in movies and music videos.
CONTEMPORARY - An expressive and creative style drawing from ballet but much more grounded and connected to the floor. Students will be able to express more freely using release, contraction, interpretation and improvisation. Typically uses a lot of floor work and danced in bare feet.
LYRICAL - A mix of ballet, jazz and contemporary, lyrical is a style where students will develop musicality and have a chance to express themselves to music. Students will build on technique in a fluid, graceful and expressive way.

There is NO NEED TO BUY DANCE SHOES. Bare feet and socks are welcome to begin with. If students feel they would like some footwear, foot thongs/gloves/pads are recommended and are reasonably priced at dance shops.

AGES 15+

SAMBA NO PE- Translates to Samba in the feet and is danced without a partner. This vibrant style will have you laughing, moving and feeling amazing in no time!! It is also an incredible workout as you learn different footwork and how to move faster to the beat. Suitable for men and women.

SAMBA DE GAFIEIRA -All the way from Brazil, this is the partnered version of the iconic dance style Samba no Pe. You will also have taste of Samba Funkeado which is the more modern and hip hop/funk influenced style attracting many people around the globe. Magno has been trained by the creator of Funkeado itself meaning you will receive a raw and unique experience.

ZOUK -Zouk is a very beautiful and sensual dance style which allows a lot of freedom of movement. It evolved from the Brazilian dance Lambada which is now not so popular. Zouk has some similar characteristics to contemporary dance and is danced to a lot of modern music. There are a number of substyles in zouk such as the flow, black, lambada and urban styles so there are always new challenges. In zouk your connection with your partner is like no other as you use multiple body parts to lead your follower rather than just your hands and traditional frame.

SALSA -Salsa is an extremely popular dance that originated in the Caribbean. It is a truly beautiful dance style with many traditional and modern elements.

BACHATA -Bachata comes from the Dominican Republic and is now danced all over the world. It follows a simple 4 beat rhythm where you take 3 steps and then a tap on the 4thbeat. It is a very sensual dance and beautiful to watch.
