Kayleigh McMullen - Owner and Founder of Absolute Aerials
Kayleigh grew up on the Sunshine Coast where she took dance classes at Sunshine Dance Centre from the age of 3. As she began to dance, Kayleigh discovered a strong passion for movement and the performing arts excelling in performances, eisteddfods and exams. Kayleigh undertook a range of dance styles including ballet, jazz, tap, and contemporary and completed all Royal Academy of Dance exams in their graded syllabus, along with completing the intermediate level of their vocational syllabus with a distinction grade.
It was around this time Kayleigh discovered the Flying Trapeze! She has now been a professional trapeze artist for 5 years performing in corporate shows for renowned resorts, functions and also with Circus Joseph Ashton in WA and Burtons Circus. Kayleigh discovered a further passion for Aerials and travelled to the Gold Coast every week for over a year to train. Her commitment to aerials and becoming a professional in the field meant moving to the gold coast where she trained, coached and performed for Aerial Artistry a company renowned for its quality, technique and breathtaking shows.
Kayleigh now lives on the Sunshine Coast to be closer to her family. Kayleigh has decided to bring the circus (specifically aerials) closer to home so she can have the best of both worlds! Kayleigh takes trips to America when she can to develop her skills and share these with Absolute Aerials. She takes classes from leading performers who had been or were in shows such as Cirque Du Soleil! Kayleigh brings her discipline, grace and technique learnt in ballet to her aerial shows creating a jaw dropping, elegant display of strength and beauty. Kayleigh is always commended for her bodylines and audience connection making her shows that little bit more special! Having a combined experience of over 17 years (5 years as a professional), Kayleigh is ready to share her multiple talents and experience with you at her newly founded school ‘Absolute Aerials’, or at your next event!
If you can hear animal noises she is usually in the studio.
Ashleigh tried a few different styles of dance (tap, jazz, ballet) whilst she grew up and performed in dance estedfords while she was growing up in the Illawarra. After having her son Lachlan she got into excercizing starting with classes at the gym, however she became bored of that pretty quickly. Looking for a fun way to excercize she started pole dancing at her local studio in Wollongong where she found a passion. Ashleigh had been pole dancing for 3 years when she started to look for a new challenge and fell in love with aerials. She has been obssessed ever since! "Aerials is my me time, when i am at aerials i can switch off, i only think about what i am doing"
"Nothing compares to the excitment of finally getting a move you have been working towards and there is always a new goal to reach"
Ashleigh has been trained, like nearly all our staff under the watchful eye of Kayleigh as well as guest instructors when they visit. She is an inspiration and her love for aerials really shines through. Ashleigh is highly sought after as an instructor within the studio and is fabulous with all age groups. MEOW!!
Franqui started her aerials journey with Kayleigh on the Gold Coast and absolutely loves it! She has performed professionally for various corporate companies and continues to share her passion with our students. Franqui studied law at uni but thinks aerials is way more fun :P She is an amazing instructor who pushes each and every student beyond what they thought possible!
Franqui and Kayleigh are also duo trapeze partners and work together on their breathtaking act. You might be lucky to see it in one of our yearly shows!
